Achievements

Fellowship:

  1. Kelaniya University, Sri Lanka had invited Dr. Shakuntala Gawde as a Visiting Fellow and Key note speaker for the period of 17th October 2017 to 14th November 2017. She delivered key-note speech in 2nd  International Conference on Sanskrit Studies on Exposition, Innovation and Exposition on Sanskrit Studies held on 9th November 2017. She Chaired two sessions on ‘Sanskrit Grammar’, ‘Hinduism and Philosophy’. She was a Panellist in panel discussion on ‘Life after death in Vedic literature’ in 2nd International Conference on Sanskrit Studies (ICSS) 2017’. She presented a paper on ‘Life after death in Vedic Literature’ in a panel discussion. She Worked on a panel for designing the syllabus for special degree course on ‘Hinduism’ to be conducted at Department of Sanskrit, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in November 2017
  2. Heras Institute of Indian history and culture and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust conferred a research fellowship on Dr. Shakuntala Gawde for the research project on Bhagavata Purana in December 2015.

Best Paper prize/award:

  1. Academisthan Teacher Award 2021 (Young Teacher’s Award category of Humanities) in the virtual presence of Prof D.P. Singh, Chairman, UGC and Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, MP, Rajya Sabha (patron of the event) and Prof T.V. Kattimani, Vice Chancellor, Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh (chairperson of a jury panel). She received this award for her extra ordinary contribution towards teaching and research.
  2. Late Shri Raghavendra Kulkarni memorial Award for best paper in women delegates)- this award was given to Dr. Shakuntala Gawde for presenting a paper on “Rgvedic Eschatology in comparison with Greek Thoughts” in the National conference on ‘Life, life after death and Realization’ organized by Samshodhanam in association with Karnataka Sanskrit University held on 16th and 17th March 2019 at Medha Dakshinamurthy Sanskrit College, Gokarna.
  3. Best paper prize Award: this award was given to Dr. Shakuntala Gawde for presenting a research paper on the topic Understanding Vedānta through Films (A Pedagogical model) A case study of ‘Matrix’, Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Veliyanad, Kerala in International conference on New Frontiers in Sanskrit and Indic Knowledge  organised by Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Kerala from 12th to 14th June 2017

Medals:

  • ‘The Laxmibai Dwarkanath Naik Gold Medal’ jointly with the University of Mumbai for having secured the highest number of marks in ‘Sanskrit’ among the successful candidates at the B.A degree examination held in March,2006.
  • ‘Prof. R. R. Deshpande Gold medal’ from Ramanarain Ruia College, Matunga, Mumbai, for securing highest marks in Sanskrit at the B.A. degree examination held in March, 2006.
  • ‘The Professor K. Shrikumar Trophy’ for first rank at the B.A. degree examination in the year March 2006 from Ramanarain Ruia College, Matunga, Mumbai.
  • ‘The Dr.(Miss) Asha L. Datar Smarak Swarna Padak’ jointly with the University of Mumbai for having secured the highest number of marks in ‘Sanskrit’ among the successful candidates at the M.A. degree examination held in April, 2008.
  • Prema Tattu gold medal for securing highest marks in ‘Vedanta’ specialization at M.A. degree examination held in April, 2008.
  • Gold medal by Kavikulaguru Kalidas University, Ramtek for securing first rank in B.A. (Vedanga Jyotisha)
